Wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade were lower early on Friday in light follow-through selling after Thursday's weak close, traders said.

As of 10:45 am CST (1645 GMT), CBOT March wheat was down 1-3/4 cents at $3.35-1/2 per bushel, with deferred months down 1 to 2-1/4 cents.

Trade seemed light. Rand Financial and Fimat Futures each sold 100 March contracts early in the session, traders said.

The CBOT was scheduled to close at noon CST (1800 GMT) on Friday ahead of the New Year's Day holiday weekend. US markets will be closed on Monday.
